Fuller, in his autobiography, wrote that his uncle Ray McCroskey told him "that his father and two of his brother's left their hometown of Sparks, Georgia and traveled to the Chicago World Fair. On their way home, they ran out of money in Pollock, Louisiana, a booming sawmill town. They were all able to get jobs their, and settled in that area for a time. Though two of the brothers later moved to Jasper, Texas, Bob remained in Pollock a bit longer, and it was there he married Maudie Alva Roberts.
