We (my family) had no idea how the Cantrals were related to each other. I can give you the information that I have on the children of Young McLemore and Nancy Ann Plumly. Priscilla McLemore was one of the nine children of Young McLemore b:1781 (son of John McLemore b:1762 d:6/30/1844 and Sarah Carner (or Carver) b: 1764 and Nancy Ann Plumly. Young and Nancy's children were: Martha Matilda McLemore married to Harmonas Alkire Children: Mary Ann James Young Margaret Caroline William Daniel Dickson Albert Harmonas Priscilla Martha Lee (I have also been told Leander) who died at age 18 John McLemore married to Eliza Cantral Children: Lucinda Clarence William Harvey McLemore married to Rachel Smith (my line) Children: James Monroe Joseph William Young (my great grandfather) Mary Ann Sarah Ellen Robert Jerome Priscilla McLemore married to Thomas Cantral Children: Clarisa Turner Young Francis Thomas Mary Nancy Archibald McLemore-never married Ellen McLemore married to David Cantral Children: Young Lucinda Mary McLemore married to William Stone Children: Young Betty Nancy Ann James McLemore-never married Joseph McLemore-never married I also have a listing of Martha Matilda and Harmonas Alkire's children, their spouses and Martha and Harmonas' grandchildren. I also have information on William Young McLemore's children and his marriages(his first wife died about three months after their wedding) since my line is through William Young McLemore, son of William Harvey McLemore, grandson of Young McLemore. I am interested in any information that you could give me on the McLemores and the Cantrals, especially where I can find documentation of these ancestors. My information comes from a geneaology and papers compiled by my Great Aunt Harriet McLemore Middleton (b:1887). She was a daughter of William Young McLemore and older sister to my grandfather Homer McLemore who was killed accidentally in 1915. James Alkire (jnjalkire@sbcglobal.net) shows they as the parents of (1) John W. McLemore, born 1812 TN and died Aug 1871 Sterling, Whiteside Il; (2) Priscilla D. McLemore born 1814 TN and died May 1847 in Sangamon, married to Thomas Carsey CANTRALL, the son of Levi Cantrall. They were said to be the parents of Young M. CANTRALL, born 1838 in Sangamon, IL and died 1 July 1863 at Vicksburg, MS. (3) Abigail McLemore born 1820 TN and died 1861 and (4) Mary Ellen McLemore born 1826 and died Feb 1856, Athens, IL. James also shows that Young, by an unknown wife, had two additonal children, L. E. McLemore and Hinton McLemore. As these children were reported to be born after Young's death in 1841, this is not likely.

  	Eddie Maynard found the following biography of Harmonas in the book HISTORY OF THE EARLY SETTLERS OF SANGAMON COUNTY, ILLINOIS "Centennial Report,: John Carroll Power, Edwin A. Wilson and Co, Springfield, Illionis, 1876, pages 78 and 79. Alkire, Harmonas was born in 1804 in Bourbon county, KY. His parents moved when he was quite young, to Pickaway county, O. in 1826 he visited Sangamon County on business for other parties. Returning to Ohio, he went to Lafayeet, Ind. The next year he came to Sangamon county again, on business and was married in Springfield, Dec, 31, 1829, to Martha McLemore. She was born July 10, 1810, in Burke county, N. C. Her parents moved, in 1811, to Knoxville, Tenn., and moved from there to Sangamon County, Ill, arriving Dec. 23, 1828 at Springfield. Soon after marriage M. Alkire returned to Lafayette with hsi wife. They had two children born there, and then moved to Sangamon county, arriving, August 1832, in what is now Fancy Creek township, where they had eight living children....Harmonas Alkire and his wife are living ont he farm where they settled in 1832. It is three miles west of Sherman. He confirms the statement of Washington Crowder that the sudden change took place December 20, 1836, because he entered a piece of land that day, and the papers bear the above date.
