    • Opal Burkett Walton of Longview, TX passed away at her home Sunday morning, January 16, 2011 with her family by her side.

      Mrs. Walton was born May 27, 1925 at Hemphill, TX to Britt and Lelia Burkett. She was the third of ten children.

      Mrs. Walton attended school at Rodessa, LA, graduating in 1942.

      She married H.N. (Tiny) Walton of McLeod, TX on February 23, 1943.

      Mrs. Walton was a 25 year member of the Golden Light Chapter of the American Business Women's Association of Longview. Her work experience included Kress' of Shreveport, LA, Montgomery Ward of Seminole, TX and Ponca City, OK, McWilliam's Furniture Store of Longview, TX and Longview Refinning Co as a clerk.

      Mrs. Walton is survived by her husband and children: daughters Judy Hill and husband James of Canyon, TX, Diane Walker and husband Ron of Blackwell, OK, son Ricky Walton and wife Vonne of Chico, TX, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Six sisters: Ruby Yates and husband Wade of Jefferson, TX, Lavern Ballard of Broussard, LA, Verlene Daniels of Liberty, TX, Maxine Pate of Pineland, TX, Jean Windham and husband Jim of Deer Park, TX, sister-in-law Marcelyn Bankhead of Longview, TX and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

      Mrs. Walton attended the Church of Christ on McCann Road.

      Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum.

      The family suggest in lieu of flowers persons wishing to honor Mrs. Walton may donate to their favorite charity.
