He married Laura A McLemore, daughter of Amos and Mary Jane McShan McLemore, on November 3, 1892. They had 8 children: Francis (Coker) 1893-1985, Fred 1895-1983, Paul 1897-1900, Hiram Mutt 1900-1977, Sarah Jane (Gough) 1904-1997, Amos Hamilton Hamp 1907-1972, John M 1910-1973, and Corina Victoria (Stodard) living.
