Obituary (from FindAGrave) V. T. MASON, 72 DIES OF SEIZURE Jasper Residents' Rites Will Be Tuesday At 10 JASPER (Spl) ? Funeral services for V. T. Mason, 72, of Jasper will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in J. O. Stringer Funeral Home. Masonic graveside services will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Hemphill. Mason died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday of an apparent heart attack while attending the Friendship Baptist Church homecoming in Hemphill. Mason was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jasper and the Littletown Fowler Masonic Lodge in Hemphill. He was also a former member of the Jasper Lions Club, the Jasper Fire Department and the Chamber of Commerce. He taught school in Sabine County and at one time was the manager and co-owner of Mason Furniture Co. in Jasper. Mason retired from the Texas Employment Commission in 1961 after 25 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Effie Mason; his mother, Mrs. Dora Mason of Dallas, and six brothers, Carvy and Loy Mason, both of Dallas, Eldon and Herman Mason, both of Center and Rufus and William A. Mason, both of Fort Worth.
