At the time of the 1860 census, a W H and M J Crawford were residents of Shelbyville, Texas, and enumerated with J H 11 year old male, Joel 10 year old male, M A 7 year old female, J S 5 year old male, M J 2 year old female and W H 1 year old male. In 1870, also in Shelbyville, Wm H Crawford, age 44, is enumberated with an Elizabeth E Crawford, age 31. Children in their home were John H age 21, Josep L age 19, Martha, age 16, Mary age 12, W H age 10 and T E female age 8. Also living in the household were R Thomas 6 year old male, a 1 year old boy, Jessee M Thomas and 14 year old Lucinda Thomas. William was listed as a Merchant. In 1880, also in Shelby County, William H Crawford, age 54 and his wife Eugenia E, age 40, were enumerated with children Trypena, age 18, Thomas R, age 16, and Mark, age 10, along with Susan C Anderson, age 69, and Sindy Porter, age 54.
