- Funeral services for O.D. Boyd, 75, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Rosevine, Texas.
Mr. Boyd was born August 29, 1938 in Rosevine, Texas to William Carroll and Lula Belle (Peveto) Boyd, and died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at his residence. A former resident of Rosevine, Mr. Boyd had resided in Lufkin for nine years. He worked 40 years in the telephone industry as an inspector. He had been a member of the Bronson Masonic Lodge #893 for more than 40 years and was a past Master and District Deputy Grand Master. He was also a member of the Sharon Shrine and Scottish Rite. Mr. Boyd was a deacon at Chestnut Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Shirley Boyd of Lufkin; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Jeannie Boyd of Woodlake and Keith Boyd of Marshall; daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Brad Lindsey of Lufkin; granddaughters and spouses, Kristel and Travis Holt of Georgetown, Stephanie and Dave Covington of Belton, KayCee Boyd of Woodlake, Kaitlyn and Devon Parker of Bossier City, Louisiana, Hailey Lindsey and Aubrey Lindsey, both of Lufkin; grandson, Austin Lindsey of Lufkin; great-grandsons, Levi Covington of Belton, Jackson Holt of Georgetown and Andy Covington of Belton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Billie Sue and Carl Greer of Houston, Evelyn And Tommy Taylor of Quinlan and Ann Pugh of Red Springs; brother and sister-in-law, Dowayne and Corene Boyd of Milam; 'adopted children', Richard and Cindy Holmes of Broaddus; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Earl Boyd. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Langley, Dan Greer, David Boyd, Jeff Boyd, Mike Taylor and Gary Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Lindsey, Mark Taylor, Richard Taylor, Brent Boyd, John Boyd, Martin Ferguson, Butch Randolph and Joe Smith.
