      Bertha Berryman McDaniel

      Funeral services for Bertha Berryman McDaniel were held Saturday, Feb. 21 at Hwy. 96 Church of Christ in Jasper, with burial at Yellowpine Cemetery in Sabine County.

      Mrs. McDaniel died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at Providence Park inTyler. Formerly of Pineland, she was the last of 13 chileren and a native of Yellowpine. A longtime Jasper resident, she was a natural born piano player and played by ear. A great storyteller, Bertha was famous for her jokes. She was a writer of memoirs and other childhood memories.

      Surivors include nieces, Mildred Morris, Faye Bell, Brittie Blair, Mary Ellen Cammack, Betty Coleman, Kay Berryman, Melba Byley, Mary Helen Lupton, Glenda Ann Williams, Billie Jean Jones, Ada Johnson, and Sammie Williamson; nephews, Wayne Berryman, Arnold Berryman, Grover C. Berryman, Billy Don Berryman, Don Kenneth Berryman, Winston Burr, Buddy Berryman, and Charles Cooper.

      Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Thornton W. McDaniel and 11 nieces and nephews.

      Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.
