"DeFord" McLemore, 72, of Hemphill died Thursday, October 5, 2000, at Hemphill Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hemphill. McLemore, born Jan. 17, 1928, in Bronson as a son of the late Ira and Alma (Bragg) McLemore, had lived in Hemphill several years and was the owner of an asphalt paving company. He was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a World War II veteran. Survivors: wife, Elouise McLemore of Hemphill; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Terre McLemore of Nacogdoches;a brother, Rufus McLemore of Hemphill; and two granchildren, Hillary McLemore and Sara McLemore of Nacogdoches. Funeral services were held Oct. 8 at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill with Bro. I.W. Ferguson, pastor of Johnson Missionary Baptish Church, officiating. Interment followed at Hemphill City Cemetery.
