Obituary Rufus Maxie McLemore, 87, died Wednesday in the VA Hospital, Houston, TX. Rufus was born in Hemphill to Ira and Alma Bragg McLemore and was a lifetime resident of Hemphill. Rufus left school at an early age to join the CC's. When old enough he joined the Marine Corps and served in WW II. When he returned home he owned and operated McLemore's Garage until retirement. Rufus is survived by his son Maxie and wife Maryanne McLemore of Victoria, TX, his daughter Charlotte and husband Gene Peters of Cypress, TX, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Clovis. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Military Honors. Burial will follow in the Hemphill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill Texas.
