      Mr. James Malcolm McLemore, 88, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

      Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Bro. Lynn Stapleton will officiate the service.

      The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until time of services.

      Mr. James M. McLemore was born April 16, 1919 in Huntingdon, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Malcolm J. McLemore and Clell French McLemore. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Monelle McLemore Richards and a niece, Judy Richards.

      He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie Ross MeLemore and his children, James M. McLemore, Jr. of Memphis, Bonita Coffey of Crossville, Sandra McLemore of Jackson, and Jerry McLemore of Goodlettsville; grandsons, David Coffey, Andrew Coffey, Jason McLemore, and Bryan McLemore; one great-grandson, Garrett Coffey; daughters-in-law, Debby McLemore and Lana McLemore; and son-in-law, Clarence Coffey.

      The History of Carroll County, Tennessee shows that he was longtime Carroll County Clerk He was raised in Carroll County, went to college and played on the football team at Mississippi State, Boxed with the Golden Gloves, served 4 years in the armed forces during World War II as a Marine in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was elected County Clerk and served 24 years (1946-2954) and (1970-1986).
