He was shown as a son of John Wright McLemore and Margaret Hales, and was retired. He was buried in McColl S.C. On his FindAGrave memorial page, created by Angela Short Hudson, has a photo of his headstone, engraved H. L. McLemore. On the memorial page his name is shown as Hayes Leonard McLemore, but in the notes section he is referenced as Hayes Lemon "H.L." McLemore.
