  Notes	Wynema McGrew states that a first cousin of Elizabeth's reported she was returned to Tennessee to be raised by her paternal grandparents. However, if this is true, it was not for long. On 5 May 1845, Elizabeth McGrew, her maternal grandmother, applied to the Robertson County Probate Court for guardianship of Elizabeth Jane Barton, minor, heir of David A. Barton and Samatha Barton, both deceased. Elizabeth was granted this guardianship, and she was living with her grandmother as of 1850. Wynema indicated that Elizabeth Jane married Cleve R. Walters or Waters in Limestone County, Texas prior to 1860 where they can be found on that census. He was a farmer with real and personal property of $3,500 each. They were not found on the 1870 or 1880 censuses of Texas.
