The parents of Luvenia were John Milton Stratton and Martha Matilda Hellums. They had about a dozen children and they, along with Larry's other great-grandfather, Joseph Henry Morgan, left Texas and took part in the Oklahoma land rush, settling in Carpenter, Oklahoma. John Stratton received a small pension for his service as a Texas Ranger in the 1870's, and the Stratton's are buried in Inglewood Cemetery in Inglewood, CA."
