      Billy Don Sparke, 64, of Yellowpine died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 1996, at his residence.

      Born March 15, 1932 in Sabine County, he was a lifelong area resident and a member of Yellowpine Macedonia Baptist Church. At the time of his death, Sparks was serving as chief deputy of the Sabine County Sheriff's Department and had previously served as a Sabine County Constable and on the Hemphill ISD board of trustees. He was a farmer/rancher and had previously been employed by the U. S. Forest Service. A U. S. Veteran of Korea, he was a member of the American Legion and a charter member of the Sabine County VFW Post #10351. He was also a member of Littleton Fowler Masonic Lodge #305, the order of the Eastern Star, and Sharon Shrine Temple.

      Survivors: wife, Olllie Faye (McDaniel) Sparks of Yellowpine, a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Rodney FRAZIER of Yellowpine; a sister, Betty THOMAS of Evadale; a brother, Odis Paul Sparks of Yellowpine; and four grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by a daugher, Donna.

      Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. W. Clarence Howell officiating. Interment followed with Masonic rites at the Yellowpine Cemetery in Yellowpine.
