    • Evelyn (Karl) Belohlavy, 90, of Crete, died Saturday, March 17, 2012. She was born May 6, 1921 on a farm near Swanton, Neb.. She graduated from Wilber High School in 1939. She married Joseph F. Belohlavy on January 6, 1948 in Monterey, Calif., near Ft. Ord, where Joseph was stationed. After the war, they returned to Saline Conty and later purchased the Belohlavy farm from his father on September 13, 1948. Evelyn then spent a number of years as a homemaker and working on the farm. She later began working at the Wilber Nursing Home where she worked for over 25 years as a nurse's aide then a medication aide. During retirement she enjoyed spending time at her son's business, Turkey Creek Furs and Recycling, Inc., embroidering, crocheting, visiting with family and friends, and baking kolaches weekly.

      She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Belohlavy; parents, Joseph and Bozena "Bessie" (Kysela) Karl; brother, Robert Karl and his wife Velma; sister, Helen (Karl) Havlat and her husband Rudy; sister, Rose (Karl) Belohlavy and her husband Lumir; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Helen Belohlavy, Arnold and Anna Urban, and Joseph Slama.

      She is survived by her son, Roger G. Belohlavy and his wife Janice of Crete, Neb.; grandchildren, Cynthia L. Belohlavy of Fairlawn, Ohio, and Amanda J. (Belohlavy) Karr and her husband Jeremy of Omaha, Neb.; great grandchildren, Emmett L. Karr and Kaylynn N. Karr; and sister-in-law, Josephine Slama; niece and nephews and their families.

      Funeral services will be held at Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete on Tuesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be grandson-in-law, Jeremy Karr, nephews, Lonnie Karl, Doug Karl, Randy Karl, Richard Slama, Gene Slama. Honorary pallbearers will be nephew, Dennis Belohlavy and niece, Trudy Odvody. Visitation Monday 5-9 p.m., Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete. Memorials in care of the family.
