    • Rueben McLemore wrote, in his "McLemore History" that "In the possession of Mrs. Oscar Yarbrough of Meridian is the first "store bought" cradle ever used in this section of the state. It was brought here by ox cart from Mobile by Richard McLemore for his daughter (sic) Ines (Mrs. Ines McLemore Parker), who was Mrs. Yarbrough's mother. The cradle, finished in simple spooled effect with a canopied cover, was quite a novelty and attracted visitors from miles around. Mrs. Yarbrough presently has it stored at Hickory."
