    • Within only a short time after his marriage Howell McLemore died intestate, and Alexander McLemore qualified as administrator of his estate on June 17, 1844 (Southampton Order Book 20, p. 173), and on December 15, 1845, William GOODWYN was appointed special commissioner to examine and settle Alexander's account of Howell's estate (Southampton Order Book 20, p 333). This is the last mention of either of them in the Court records. (James L. McLemore, III, p. 79).

    • James married Rebecca Harwood, daughter of Daniel and Ann (BARHAM) HARWOOD, pursuant to a marriage bond issued in Sussex County on August 4, 1796 (Sussex Marriage Register, p. 82). They are known to have had at least fours sons and two daughters: James Jr., Zebulon, Alexander, Howell, Sarah Elizabeth ("Liza") and Theresa G. ("Tracy"). (James L. McLemore, III, p. 79).

    • Alexander and Howell McLemore married sisters, the daughters of John W. WOODFORD; Alexander married Sarah M. WOODFORD upon a marriage bond issued to them on July 16, 1842 (Southampton Marriage Register, p. 520), upon which Howell was security, and Howell married Lucy I. WOODFORD upon a bond issued December 18, 1842 (Southampton Marriage Register, p. 525), upon which his brother James was security. It is said that neither of these marriages resulted in children.
