SABINE COUNTY REPORTER 9 Feb 2000 Floyd Wagstaff, 89, of Tyler died Saturday, Feb. 5, at a Tyler hospital. Wagstaff was born Jan. 8, 1911, in Shelby County and had lived in Tyler since 1945. He was a retired athletic director of Tyler Junior College and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors: three daughters, Becky Craig of Rowlette, Betsy Caddell of Richardson, and Peggy Smith of Tyler; two brothers, Travis Wagstaff of Madisonville and Robert "Bob" Wagstaff of Bronson; two sisters, Netta Hanna of Jacksonville and Bonnie Myers of Hide-a-way Lake; and six grandchildren, Jay Caddell, Ryan Caddell, Jennifer Dwyer, Melissa Dwyer, Preston Smith, and Frances Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Nell Wagstaff, in 1992. Funeral services were held Feb. 8 at First Presbyterian Church, Tyler, with Tommy King officiating. Interment was at Cathedral in the Pines, Tyler. Pallbearers: Dr. Joe Prud'homme, Vernon Harton, Cecil Roach, Babe Hallmark, David Lunceford, Herb Richardson, Hollis Pinyan, and Jimmy Acker. Honorary pallbearers were former TJC players. Memorial contributions may be made to the Floyd and Nell Wagstaff Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund at TJC Foundation.
