      Jewel Woods Lever

      Jewel Wood Lever, 88, of Dallas died Monday Oct. 30, 1996, at her daughter's residence.

      She was a native of Hemphill, a daugher of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith, and had formerly lived in Beaumont several years where she was a retired nurse with Baptist Hospital. She was a member of the Wildwood Church in Dallas and president of the Rebecca Club in Beaumont.

      Survivors: daughter, Vickie Creegh and husband Eddie of Dallas; three sisters, Ariel (sic) Hill of Ft. Worth; Joelene Smith of Sulphur, Lousiana, and Laverne Ener of Hemphill; four granchildren, and one great-grandchild.

      She was preceded in death by a son, Edgar H. Chance.

      Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Westwood Chapel in Dallas with Rev. Kenneth Carroll officiating. Interment was at Garden of Memories of Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

      Pallbearers were nephews.
