    • Per the book THE SOUTHERN McGREWS GREW John had been previously married, and had 3 sons, Jasper Newton (b. 1832 MISS), Reuben Franton (b. 1836, LA), and John (b. 1838 in LA).

      Wynema McGrew noted that "Fenner Road, beginning at Ouachita River, was blazed by John (a wealthy planter) in the early 1840s prior to his marriage to Alzeda. After loosing several family members to Yellow Fever, he used slaves to cut the road near Okaloosa, where he built a summer house." (McGrew, THE JAMES McGREW FAMILY, p. 335).

      His FindAGrave memorial page states that he was a "Son of William Fenner and Mercy Ogden. Husband of Katherine Elliot and Alzedda McGrew. Father of James, William, Isreal, Benjamin, Sherrod, Mercy, Eliza, John Franklin, Jasper, Sarah, Giles, Alzetta, John, Christopher, Josephine, Elizabeth, and Letty.
