    • Debbie Blalock emailed, in March 2014, that she was a descendant of "James McLemore Gray, son of James Gray and Sukey McLemore. I descend from James' son Griffin Gray, through his son John Gray. They were residing in Tennessee and Alabama before James and Mrs. Elizabeth Jones (widow) married and came to Kaufman/Van Zandt, Texas prior to 1850. The Grays traveled between Florence, Alabama and Lawrenceburg, Tennessee following work provided in the mills there. James and Mrs. Jones came with her family to Texas. Griffin remained behind and married Rebecca Redding/Redden in Florence, Alabama. Griffin died in the Civil War. My grandfather came with his family from Tennessee from around Johnson City prior to 1893. He told us he walked behind a wagon train while the women road the train to Texas. They ended up in Robertson County, Texas where my grandfather's father died in 1893 and is buried in West Boone Prairie outside Franklin, Texas. My father at one time took my grandfather to Van Zandt County to find his grandparent's graves. That is how I found out the McLemore connection. Would love to here from any McLemore descendant."
