  Notes	Ginger Christmas writes that: "He was a Captain in the American Rev. War. In 1781 he and his brother Richard were paroled by Cornwallis (British General) from capture and later moved to the Mississippi Territory. After the war he (Nathaniel) settled with his younger brother Robert in the Wilkes County area of Georgia where they were district judges. He moved to the Louisiana area to settle down with Mary McLemore, his wife.He Petitioned the new government for pension from the Revolutionary war but was rejected. He reached his rank of Major as a First Major Surveyor." This is from the National Archives, Rev. War Records. "To the honorable Lieutenant General Leslie, or to the commanding officer of the British forces in the state of South Carolina. Captain Nathaniel Christmas has permission to pass from hence to the British garrison at Charles Town, for the purpose of effecting the exchange, Captain Richard Christmas, who is a prisoner of war to the British arms, for Captain James Osborn, who is a prisoner of war to the American arms, which said exchange is hereby proposed. This being agreed to, the said Captain Osborn is relieved and exchanged, the said Captain Nathaniel Christmas is to pass under the sanction of the flag.
