    • According to Robert McLemore Butler, William S. McLemore was a private in Co A Regt 30, Infantry. He was born in 1842 in Sampson County. He enlisted September 1861 at Clinton. He was captured, date unknown, and then paroled on October 2, 1862 at Leesburg, Virginia. He died May 27, 1864 in a hospital in Richmond of Gunshot wounds. He was the son of Raiford McLemore born in 1815.
