    • Per the book THE SOUTHERN McGREWS GREW, Alexander de Castro married Elizabeth McGrew on May 26, 1824 in Marengo County. She presumably was the former Elizabeth Thomas, widow of Alexander McGrew, brother of William, who a few months later marred Alexander de Castro's sister, Mary Ann Elizabeth. They were in Marengo County, for the 1830 census, and showed one daughter and two older sons (born prior to 1824, so from the prior marriage?) In Sumter Co, 1830, they had 5 children, and by 1840 their were five more shown. Alexander was made administrator of the will of Nesbit McGrew in September 1830 and it is presumed that it was because his wife, Elizabeth was a heir along with a known brother, William. Alexander's will in Marego County, Alabama was dated August 17, 1843 and left land to be divided between Elizabeth and William P. McGrew, with the stipulation that William P. would live with and assist Elizabeth with the land.
