    Notes 
    • John W. HAVEL was the son of Catherine PETRICKA and Jacob HAVEL. He immigrated to Minnesota in 1867. An August 28, 1903 issue of the Milligan Times it was written that "He was a member of the Posse that chased the Jesse James gang out of Minnesota after they had looted a bank." His obituary noted that "He was a carpenter by trade and many buildings hereabouts will long attest to his labors; but at the time of his death he was farming on his place in Liberty Township." (Milligan, p 295).

    • They were married int he Catholic Church with Josef PETRICKA and Josef HAVEL as witnesses. They renewed their vows in Fillmore County, Nebraska on March 20, 1880, moving shortly thereafter to Kansas and took a homestead north of Ludell. They apparently separated, as John remarried Fannie Krejdle in 1886, and Rosalie moved, without John, first south of Ludell, Kansas, and eventually on to Atwood Kansas. (Milligan, p 295).
