  Notes	A 1928 graduate of Milligan Public School, he began farming near Milligan. After his marriage, he and Helen moved to a farm west of Milligan, on Section 11, Glengary Township. This farm was purchased by Lew's grandparents, Vaclav and Anna (Sopr) KOCA from the Chicago Burlington and Omaha Railroad. Lew was interested and active in civic and community activities. He was a charter member of the Milligan Volunteer Fire Department, on the Glengary Township Board, a member of the Milligan Board of Education and on the Fillmore County Redistricting Committee. (Milligan, p 288).
