  Notes	According to tradition passed down by Lona Mae Duggan Gordan, it is believe that Pleasant killed a man in Sabine Parish and fled to Texas. He was on the third ward on patrol guard duty in Sabine Parish to stop 'agitators' from inciting insurrection among the slaves in the Parish. His written duties included visiting slave quarters and beating with a whip any slaves without passes. (Casagranda, 1850 Census, 81-82).
