Bright of Sabine County was killed last night in a pistol duel with Time Battle, a negro, said to be a fugitive from Louisiana for the alleged killing of two white men several days ago. The negro was shot and killed by deputies who accompanied Sheriff Bright. The negro had been located in the cabin of another negro and the attempt to arrest him was made when the shooting started. The other negro and his wife disappeared during the progress of the fight.
