She was the daughter of Mack McGee and Alice Gentry. She had red hair. She was married to Adam Huffman and then to John Riley Huffman. She was the mother of 10 sons and one daughter. Obituary: Mrs. Viola Huffman, 42, died suddenly Tuesday night, April 15, 1947, at 9 p.m. at her home on the Bronson Highway. Mrs. Huffman was born in Jasper County on October 26, 1924 to Mack and Alice Gentry McGee. She moved to Sabine County approximately 25 years ago and she has lived here since that time. Survivors include her husband, John Riley Huffman of Hemphill; daughter, Mrs. Hazel Retherford of Hemphill; sons, John Henry Huffman, Cecil Bradley Huffman, Bruce Wayne Huffman, Jimmie Roland Huffman and Jerry Lyle Huffman of Hemphill, Paul Huffman of Shreveport, LA, Hal Huffman and Clint Huffman of Waco, TX, and Marcus of the U.S. Navy; her mother, Mrs. Alice Stephens of Kirbyville; three sisters, Mrs. Burns Peveto of Orange, Mrs. Florence Grant of Kirbyville, and Mrs. Ruby Winham of Los Angeles, CA. Services were under the direction of Stringer Funeral Home of Hemphill. Funeral was held at First Baptist Church with Rev. Clarence Howell officiating. Interment was in Hemphill Cemetery.
