    Notes 
    • Milo attended country school in District #96 and #59 until he had to quit to help on the family farm. As a young man, he and his brother Fred hand picked corn over several harvest seasons on Iowa. Milo was drafted into the Army in 1942, and was stationed at Camp Adair, Oregon. After his honorable discharge in 1943, he returned to farming. He also sold seed corn for NC+ seeds for 28 years. (Milligan, 1988-2008, p. 106).
