"Ab" Jones, 86, Decker, died Monday, April 12, 1999, at the Tendercare nursing facility following a lengthy illness. He was born July 17, 1912, in Shabhona to John D. and Mary (Nickel) Jones. He married Marie E. MacKenzie Dec. 3, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio. Jones was an electrician. He also farmed and worked as a rural mail carrier in Decker. He was a member of Decker Masonic Lodge #479. He is survived by his wife, Marie; 2 sons, Gary (Doris) Jones of Cass City and Richard D.(Gerry) Jones of Decker; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and a sixth great-grandchild due in one month; 2 sisters, Marian Sefton of Pontiac and Dorothy Kritzman of Cadillac, and a brother, John D.(Irja) Jones, Jr. of Royal Oak. Jones was preceded in death by 2 infant sons and a brother, Benjamin Jones. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with the Rev. Jean Rencontre, pastor of the Shabbona United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may he made to the Shabbona United Methodist Church.
