- Services for Abbie Travis, 94, of Burke, were held November 25, 2001 in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Travis was the daughter of Molly Cole and Henry Clay Carlton. Mrs. Travis was a retired teacher for the Diboll ISD following more than 40 years of service. She was a member of Burke Baptist Church and had resided in the Burke community most of her life.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, James and Nell Travis; grandchildren,LaDonna and Russell Elrod, John Travis and James Travis; great-grandchildren, Travis Timaeus and Joshua Timaeus.
Mrs. Travis was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Travis, in 1966; son, Jerry Patrick Travis, in 1994; brother, Roy Carlton and sister, Jewel Hall.
