    • "William Martin and his son, Thomas Jefferson, received Bounty Land for their service in the Texas Revolution. William bought land in Sabine County from Lavina Popino (dau. of William Melton) in 1834. The Whitehead Cemetery is on this land." (White and Toole, p 88).

      They may have been from Pike County, Mississippi, as this is the location of birth listed on the confederate widows pension application of their daughter, Mary Jane Martin Whitehead.
