Obituary John Richard Sparks, 69, died in his home Tuesday night after an illness. Richard was born in San Augustine, TX, to Beeman R. and Gertha Williams Sparks. He graduated from San Augustine High School in 1961 and from Stephen F. Austin University in 1965. Richard and his wife Judy lived in Pineland where he worked and retired as purchasing agent for Temple Inland, Pineland Division. Richard was very active in in the community and civic activities, and being active in sports all his life, he had the opportunity to be the baseball coach of the West Sabine Tigers in the spring of 1981. After retirement Richard and Judy moved to Hemphill on Toledo Bend. Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hemphill. Richard is survived by his wife, Judy Carter Sparks of Hemphill, his daughters, Jennifer Morgan and her husband Billy of Diboll and Joanna Smith and her husband Paul of Conroe, his grandchildren, Paige Elizabeth Morgan, Peyton Michelle Morgan and Landon Carter Smith. He is also survived by his sister Cornelia Sparks Lockey of San Augustine, his nieces Lisa Ann Lockey and Leslie Kay Lockey, and his nephew Eddie Lockey, II. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, Thursday, August 16, 2012, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Friday, August 17, 2012, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel.
