      George Truit Clark

      George Truit Clark, 76, of Bridge City died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Memorial Baptist Hospital in Orange.

      Born in Fairmount (Sabine County), he had lived in Bridge City for the past 50 years. He was a retired switchman for the telephone company. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

      Survivors: his wife, Maxine Clark of Bridge City; a daughter, Carolyn Ann LeBlanc of Bridge City; three sons, George W. Clark of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Robert K. Clark of Bridge City, and Donald W. Clark of Springtown; a brother Paul Clark of Fairmount; and six grandchildren.

      Funeral services were held April 24 at Circle Drive Baptist Church in Bridge City with the pastor, Bro. Jack Comer and a former pastor, Bro. W. P. Murchison officiating. Graveside rites and interment followed at Fairmount Cemetery in Fairmount.

    • (Research):Could he have remarried? A George Truett Clark and Barbara Jean Smith are shown on the Texas Birth Index as being the parents of Jennifer Leigh Clark (b. 1963, Nacogdoches) and George Taylor Clark (b. 1970, Jefferson County). It doesn't seem likely, however, as his 2001 obituary lists his wife as Maxine, and shows only four children.
