The Sabine County Reporter October 18, 2006, page 11 Fred Smith Fred Dainwood Smith, 86, of Fairmount died at 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at his residence. Smith was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Fairmount and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a carpenter and member of Six Mile Baptist Church. Survivors: sons, Lynn Smith of Fairmount and Tommy Smith of Lufkin; daughters, LaNell Baird of Newton and Glynda Jones of Jasper, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Smith. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chape.l of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Dan George officiating. Interment followed at Fairmount Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill.
