  Notes	Bennie Zahn writes that in 1910 Bernard, a schoolteacher, was one of the few villagers in Benqu? that was able to speak, read and write fluent French. The majority of the inhabitants spoke in a patois, a southwestern lingo. He was married to Madeline CAZANAVE, and they were the parents of three children, who were farmers.
