  • Notes  Married:
    • Dalton and Tera (Fuller) Cousins both grew up in Bronson, and were married there on December 22, 1923. At the time of their marriage, Mr. Cousins was in the Tailoring business and she was a school teacher in the Bronson School System. Tera began teaching when she was just 17. Soon after their marriage, Mr. Cousins began working for United Gas Pipeline. They traveled extensively, meeting many new people and making new friends. Mrs. Cousins continued her education, attending A&I College, where she received her B.S. degree Summa Cum Lauda. She later obtained her Masters from Stephen F. Austin State University. The couple moved to Carthage in 1955, when he was chief engineer for United Gas. They retired (in Carthage) in 1968, after he has worked 42 years with the company. Mrs. Cousins was teaching in the science department in Carthage Jr. High School when she retired after 35 years of teaching.

The Cousins state the highlight of their life together was the birth of their daughter Joy Marie, after 18 years of marriage. They named their daughter Joy because she was "the joy of our lives." Joy (is now) married to Bob Turner. They reside in Waco with their three children, Dal, Daryl, and Daneya. Mrs. Turner is a teacher in Waco.

The Cousins are active workers with the First United Methodist Church. She teaches Sunday School, and is active in guild work and Bible study.

Mr. Cousins is a member of the Lions Club.

Excerpted from a newspaper article published prior to a celebration of the Cousins 50th Wedding anniversary on Dec 16, 1973, presumably in the Carthage newspaper. Their address at the time was 1322 Success Street.
