Marianne Matkin has a copy of his will. She reports that he was born before 1797 in London, England. Based on the years that his children were SAID to be born, along with the age of his wife, he must have been born considerably before that date.

James married Mary Strickland about 1807. Mary (daughter of Jacob Strickland, II and Priscilla Taylor) was born on 17 Oct 1773 in Guilford County, North Carolina; died on 25 Jan 1815 in Franklin County, Georgia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Thomps Allan was born after 1807 in Georgia; and died.
2. Harriet Allan was born on 24 Aug 1811 in Georgia; died on 17 Jan 1895 in Jackson County, Georgia.
