   Bradford Stephen Carter was born on 3 Aug 1832 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana (son of Redmond Carter and Nancy Camp); died on 27 Dec 1899 in Pendleton, Sabine Parish, Louisiana; was buried in Carter Cemetery, Many, Sabine Parish, Louisiana. Notes: Bradford Carter, his son Ben, and grandson, John Bradford owned and operated Carter's Ferry for many years. (White and Toole, p 41). Leatha Betts, a descendant of his eldest daugther, Sarah Elizabeth, show that Bradford was married five times in total, and also indicates that he had three children with Frances Procell, though they were never married. Frances Procell was listed as a housekeeper, age 22, in his home at the time of the 1870 census. Frances Precell, shown as widowed, lived in the adjacent residence at the time of the 1880 census with her three children, Luisia, 14, William, 7, and Lizzie, 5.
