    Services were held Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church for Ole Jensen, 73, who died Saturday, April 9, 1966 at Birchwood Manor, with Reverand L.A. Warren officiating.

    Mrs. Joe Clement was soloist and Mrs. Harold Diffey was organist.

    Pall bearers were Harold Ristau, Bernard Wilkening, Gayle Chesley, LaVern Kruger, Junior Dieckmann, all of North Bend and George Havlovec of Fremont.

    Burial was in Woodland Cemetery. Commander Bernard Laudenklos and Larry Gaughen presented the casket flag to Mrs. Jensen, as representatives of the Berternas of Foreign Wars. Moser Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

    Ole was born March 6, 1892 in Tarm, Denmark. At the age of 17 he emigrated to America, making his home from 1910 to 1913 in Exeter, Nebraska. At that time he moved to the North Bend area, where he has resided, witht he exception of the period from 1917 to 1919 when he served in World War I with Company D lf the 109 Engineers.

    On April 6, 1921 he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Racek. They farmed east of North Bend until 1937 when they moved to town and operated the City Club Cafe. After 1941 Ole was in the painting and carpentering business.

    Ole will best be remembered by his many collections, which included clocks, buttons, stamps, coins, bottles and Danish Christmas Seals and many other things.

    He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood, No. 26, Fremont, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fremont, and the Nebraska State Historical Society. He was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran Church.

    He is survived by his wife, Emma, a son Merle of North Bend; two grandsons, Duane and Daran and a granddaughter, Denise; two brothers, Jens M. Jensen of Fremont and Jens Jorgen Jensen of Tarm, Denmark; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Carrigan of Bell, California; Mrs. Marie Jensen, Vejle, Denmark and Mrs. Christina Olsen, Lincoln. He was preceded in death by a son, Dale, who was killed in action during World War II, a brother, Marinus Jensen of Bell, California, and an infant granddaughter.

    Services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, for Emma Jensen, ast the United Presbyterian Church in North Bend, with Dr. L.A. Warren officiating. Mrs. and Mrs. James Arneal provided the music.

    Mrs. Jensen died Jan. 5 at the Fremont hospital, on her 78th birthday.

    She was born Jan. 5, 1899, in North Bend and lived and North Bend and Ames until moving to Fremont in 1972. She married Ole Jensen in 1921. He died in 1966.

    Survivors include a son, Merle Jensen of Fremont; brother, Lewis Racek of North Bend; sisters, Mrs. Zikman (Julia) Divis of Schuyler, Mrs. Carl (Tillie) Chesley and Mrs. Clara Best, both of North Bend; and three grandchildren.

    Burial was in Woodland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Sherman, Leonard Hines, Bill Vyhlidal, Rodney Sherman, George Havlovec and Gayle Chesley.

    Frank Racek died at this home in this city Tuesday morning, May 10, at 7:45 o'clock after an illness of only three days. He suffered a strokc of paralysis on Saturday, May 7, from which he did not rally.

    Funeral services conducted by Rev. Filipi of Clarkson were held at the Z.C.B.J. hall in Morse Bluff at 2:00 o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon, and interment was made in the Killian cemetery near Morse Bluff. There was a large attendance at the service.

    Frank Racek was born on a farm in Saunders county near the present town of Morse Bluff, December 18, 1872, the sond of Mr. and Mrs. James Racek, pioneer settlers of Saunders county. Most of his life was spend on a farm. A few years ago he retired and was located in North Bend. he was married September 22, 1896, to Miss Mary Virka in Fremont.

    Surviving are his wife, three brothers, four sisters and the following children: Frank Racek of Barnesville, Minnesota, Lewis of North Bend, Mrs. Owen Jensen (Emma) of Ames, Mrs. Zikmond Divis (Julia) of Schuyler, Mrs. Carl Chesley (Tillie) of North Bend, Mrs. Chester Best (Clara) of North Bend.

    There are also seven grandchildren: Merle and Dale Jensen, Marvin and Arlene Chesley, David and Merlin Racek, and Arnold Divis.

    Marie (Virka) Racek Obituary

    Marie (Virka) Racek was born on a farm near Morse Bluff on September 7, 1875 and died at her home in North Bend June 14, 1961. She had spent her entire life in this vicinity.

    On September 22, 1896 she was married to Frank Racek in Fremont. Six children were born to this union. She was a 62 year member of the ZCBJ Lodge in Morse Bluff. She was a kind and loving mother and leaves a host of friends and will be missed by all.

    Survivors are son, Lewis of North Bend; four daughters, Mrs. Tillie Chesley, Mrs. Emma Jensen, Mrs. Clara Best of North Bend; and Mrs. Julia Divis of Schuyler; brother Joe Virka of Morse Bluff; 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1931, and a son Frank in 1949.

    Funeral services were at the Moser Funeral Home Chapel Friday afternoon with the Rev. Robert E. Favre officiating. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. James Arneal.

    Pallbearers were Marvin Chesley, Merle Jensen, Melvin Divis, Gayle Chesley, Eugene Zeleny and Arnold Divis.

    Interment was in Killian Cemetery near Morse Bluff.

    Attending the services from a distance were Mrs. Frank Racek and daughter, Cheryl of Barnsville, Minn.

    Vaclav Racek, Breskovice, Plzen, Nov. 27, 1849, came with father to Iowa in 1861, died Nov. 18, 1908

    James Racek, son of Mathias and Maria Racek, was born 11-27-1849 in Breskovice, Czechoslovakia, and came to the U.S. about 1861. He married Veronica Beznoska (born 2-4-1855). To them were born 4 sons: Frank, William, Edward, and Emil; and 5 daughters: Anna Tenopir, Emma Virka, Lizzie Hines Svec, Teresa, and Julie Vachal. James and Veronica lived all their lives on the homestead they acquired in 1874. James died 11-18-1908, and Veronica on 10-14-1946.     Notes:

    She is listed as Veronika on the Czech immigration index and her tombstone, however later census listings variously show her as Sarah and as Flora.

    Mrs. James Racek, born February 4, 1885 (sic), in Bohemia, died October 14, 1946, at the age 91 years, 8 months, 10 days. In 1871 she was married to James Racek. They settled on the homestead in Saunders County in 1869 near Morse Bluff where she resided until her death. Her husband preceded her in death 38 years ago. The were blessed with nine children. Three sons and one daughter preceded her in death. She is survived by one son and three daughters, William of Morse Bluff, Anna Tenopir of Geronimo, Oklahoma, Emma Virka, Morse Bluff, Lizzie Svec, Milligan and Julia Vachal, Morse Bluff, 26 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. One brother and three sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 1 pm from the Vachal home and at 1:30 pm from the ACBJ hall. Rev. B.A. Filipi of Clarkson officiated. Burial was made in the Killian cemetery.

    A copy of an obituary, apparently written in Czech, lists her place of birth as Berouna v Plzenskem kraji. v Cechach.

    Caroline noted that Veronika had a stroke in 1930, and was unable to walk or talk for the 16 years preceding her death.
