TERRELL DAILY TRANSCRIPT.......July 27, 1909 W.R. McGuire died at Chisholm Saturday, interment Sunday in Camp Ground Cemetery. He was a native of Lexington, Alabama. He came to Texas 41 years ago and settled at Poetry until a few months ago when he moved to Chisholm to be with his son. A wife and 2 sons, W.S. and H.B. McGWIER survive. I looked in early TN marriages and found a Wm McGuire marrying a Mary Davis in White Co TN on 18 Dec 1838. He remarried on 9 Feb 1843 to Elizabeth Allen.

Second marriage to Bennett Dick Todd on 08/01/1865 Lawrence County, TN. Bennett is the uncle to Eleanor Dorcas "Ellen" Todd-McGuire. Eleanor is married to Elizabeth's son Henry D McGuire. Her father Presley Newton Todd and Bennett Dick Todd are brothers.

FindAGrave shows that the father William, John, Frederick and Margaret McGrew of Lauderdale County, Alabama, was William D. McGwier. It is also noted that he served in the Civil War, Third Regiments, Georgia Infantry, C.S.A.

Wallace Palmore [WEPALM@lorettotel.net], in an email dated 12 July 2001, wrote "I believe Charles was the only McGuire listed in the 1820 White Co TN censu-- but both a Charles and and an Isaac McGuire were in the 1811 tax list for White Co." He therefore concluded that "Charles and Margaret McGuire were the parent of the McGuire in Lauderdale Co AL but I may be off base here. I do believe Wm R, John W, Fred H and Margaret McGuire (the younger) were brothers and sister."
