    Nettie Elizabeth Maxey, 80, died after a brief illness Monday in the Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Nettie Beth was born in Wiergate, Texas, to Alanzo Thomas and Gertrude Agnes Smith Fort and lived most of her life from childhood in Pineland, Texas. She was a member of Bethel Chapel Baptist Church in Pineland.

    She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jenkin and husband Sam of Corpus Christi, Texas, two sons, George Maxey, Jr. of Edmonds, Washington and Jimmy Allen Maxey and wife Laura of Pineland, one brother Jimmy Harold Fort of Nederland, Texas nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

    Visitation will be from 5pm until 8pm Wednesday, October 6, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, October 7, 2010, in the Bethel Chapel Baptist Church, Hwy 96 North, Pineland. Burial will follow in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery.

    Nettie married George Truitt Maxey on 17 Feb 1961. George (son of Leroy Houston Maxey and Dicie Viola Driggers) was born on 1 Mar 1927 in Sabine County, Texas; died on 21 Dec 2006 in Pineland, Sabine County, Texas; was buried in Bethel Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Pineland, Sabine County, Texas.
