    His Texas Death certificate shows that he was a college student, and died of accidentally drowning after falling into the Sam Rayburn reservoir, on the south side, beneath the Angelina R. Bridge.

    FindAGrave shows him as a son of Bartlett Marion HALL (FAG ## 42427336) and Beulah Ethel JONES (FAG # 42427510). There is a photo of his military marker as well, which is engraved "Othel Danial Hall Cpl US Army World War II Oct 2, 1925 July 6 1975" His Texas Death certificate also showed that he was a veteran of World War II, and that his usual occupation was that of a Barber. He died of a Cardiac Arrest after hip surgery. The informant was his sister, Mrs. Mary Lou BATES.

    When he registered for the draft, during the First World War, he showed his name as James Ell Chance. He was a farmer in Rebecca, San Augustine County, Texas, and his nearest relative was his wife, Maggie May Chance. He was described as of medium heighth and build, with blue eyes and dark hair, and indicated he had "lost one eye." His great-granddaughter, June Butchee, writes that James was a prohibition officer in the 1920's, and was killed in the line of duty.
