    FRANK MATEJKA MILLIGAN PIONEER DIES IN HOSPITAL

    Frank Matejka was born May 26, 1871 in Trtic, Czechoslovakia. He came to this country with his parents and family in 1879.

    He was married to Johanna Zelenka, and to this union were born three daughters, and four sons.

    Mr. Matejka had been in poor health several years, and since last spring steadily weakened. Sixteen days ago, he was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he passed away Monday, October 28, 1957, at the age of 86 years 5 months, and 2 days.

    He leaves to mourn his departure his three daughters, Mary, Agnes, and Mrs. William (Ella) Krejdl; and two sons, John and Edward; two granddaughters, Marily Matejka and Mrs. Dean (Betty) McMullin; one brother Emil; and also a host of relatives and friends. His wife, two infant sons, his parents, three sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

    Frank experienced the hard pioneering life with his parents. He and his wife spent their active years farming, retiring to Milligan about 14 years ago. In his years he was a gardener, and also liked to read. He was a kind, loving husband and father; and his friendly qualities will be remembered by his friends and neighbors.

    Mrs. Johanna Matejka, daughter of John and Marie (Kotas) Zelenka, was born Mary 26, 1877, on a farm north of Milligan. She passed away at her home in Milligan Thursday, July 14, 1955, at the age of 78 years, 1 month, and 18 days.

    She was united in marriage to Frank Matejka February 19, 1895, and to this union were born seven children, four sons, and three daughters.

    They lived on a farm south of Burress for five years, then moved to Bluff City, Kas., for one year. They then moved to a farm town and one-half miles south of Milligan. In the spring of 1906, they moved to a farm northeast of Tobias, and from there in 1911, they moved to a farm three miles south of Milligan, where they farmed until 1932. That year they retired and moved to Tobias. In 1942, they moved back to the farm, but in 1945, they moved to Milligan.

    She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, Frank Matejka; three daughters, Mary, at home; Agnes, Ella (Mrs. William Krejdl); two sons, John and Edward, who was unable to be present, one sister Mary (Mrs. Anton Sladek); three brothers Albert, Frank, and John Zelenka; and two grandchildren, Marilyn Matejka and Betty Matejka (Mrs. Dean McMullen).

    Her parents and three sisters Josephine, Ludmia, and Justina; and one brother, Emil, and two sons preceded her in death.

    VACLAV CECRLE LAST RITES HELD AT MILLIGAN

    Vaclav Cecrle, son of Joseph Cecrle and Barbara Heida, was born in Krtice, Czechoslovakia, March 4, 1869. He passed away Sunday, July 13, 1958 at the Warren Memorial hospital at Friend Neb., at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 9 days.

    He came to this country with his parents at the age of 21, and they settled in Saline county.

    February 22, 1897, he was united in marriage to Barbara Naimon. They settled on a farm south of Tobias, and later moved to their farm in Saline county, where they farmed 44 years. He retired from farming in 1945, when his wife passed away.

    This union was blessed with 12 children, five dying in infancy.

    In 1957 he moved to Milligan from his farm, but his heart was always there where he loved his garden and flowers. He was a kind father and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy.

    He was an active member of Z.C.B.J. Krivoklat and served as its secretary for 25 years. Eight years ago he was honored by being presented a 50 year membership pin, of which he was very proud.

    He leaves to mourn his passing two sons, James and Frank; firve daughters Marie Peterman, Agnes (Mrs. Henry Kral); Leona, Mrs Rudy Kassik), Anna (Mrs. John Matejka) and Blanche (Mrs. Edward Kubicek); 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Anton Cecrle and Frank Cecrle; three sisters Agnes (Mrs Frank Naimon), Barbara (Mrs. Fred Kottas), and Anna (Mrs. Mike Augheny) and a host of relatives and friends.

    Preceding him in death were his wife Barbara, five children, one brother Joseph, four sisters, Josie Cecrle, Emma, Frances, and Mary.

    Vaclav married Barbora Heida Naimon on 22 Feb 1897 in Nebraska. Barbora was born on 7 Aug 1872 in Bohemia; died on 28 Mar 1945 in Tobias, Saline County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery (AKA Cesky Bratri Cemetery), Fillmore County, Nebraska. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    MRS. VACLAV CECRLE

    Mrs. Vaclav Cecrle of hear Tobias passed away at her home Wednesday, March 28, 1945, at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 21 days.

    Barbora Naimon, daughter of Frank and Agnes Naimon was born August 7, 1872 in Kmetnovsi okres Vejvary, Czechoslovakia, and at the age of two came to this country with her parents, and made her home near Milligan, where she grew to womanhood. When a young girl, she lost her mother and was left at home with her father and two brothers, and she assumed the responsibilities of the home.

    After her marriage to Vaclav Cecrle, they lived on a farm near Milligan for a year, and then moved to a farm in Saline county, where she lived until her death. Twelve children were born to this union, five of whom died in infancy.

    She leaves to mourn her untimely departure, her husband, two sons James and Frank; five daughters, Mrs. Marie Peterman; Mrs. Rudolph (Leone) Kassik; Mrs. Ed (Blanche) Kubicek, Mrs. Henry (Agnes) Kral, and Mrs. John (Anna) Matejka. There also survive eight grandchilrentwo brothers, Joseph and Frank, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Houska. Her parents and three sisters preceded her in death.

    She was a kind and faithful home loving wife and mother, and devoted most of her time to her home and family. Her friendly qualities will long be remembered by her family and friends.

    She was a member of the Z.C.B.J. Lodge Krivoklat thirty-nine years.
