He is shown on the "South Family from the top" tree at Ancestry.com as a son of William L. BRYAN and Carrie Josephine SOUTH, and to have married first Jinnie VARDELL.

When he registered for the draft during the First World War, he was a resident of Greenwood Texas, where he was farming for himself. He further indicated he had been born in Greenwood, and was married and supporting himself and his wife. He was described as tall, medium in build, and having blue eyes and light, slightly balding hair.

Daniel married Nora Mae Manire on 2 Jan 1971 in Lubbock County, Texas. Nora (daughter of Arthur C. Manire and Willie May Hodges) was born on 26 Dec 1899 in Montague, Montague County, Texas; died on 25 Nov 1997 in Lubbock County, Texas; was buried in Resthaven Memorial Park, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.
