While serving his country he was awarded the American Theatre Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Hermann Sons Fraternal Organization, the Woodmen of the World and St. Luke's Lutheran Church of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Eunice Faire Stautzenberger Stahl.
