  3. 6.  David H. Durr was born between 1813 and 1820 in South Carolina; died on 13 Jan 1887 in Louisiana.

    Notes:

Although his last name is listed on DUNN on both the 1850 and 1860 census, Durr appears to be correct. Casagranda, in her transcription of the Sabine Parish, Louisiana 1850 census, notes that DIRR is also used, but that DURR seems to be the most used and correct spelling of the name. She further notes the family is listed through the 1880 census records of Sabine Parish, but few cemetery or marriage records are present under any variant spelling......(Other DURR family members) can be found in Natchitoches, Rapides, and Caddo Parishes. (Casagranda, 1850 Census, 35).

Casagranda suspects he was a son of Michael DURR and Elizabeth PINCHARD. However, Susan Laurent, who maintains a website Durr Families Of North Louisiana www.doubledurr.com which is the compilation of all the research the descendants of Michael & David Durr have done thru the years, says this is incorrect. She also notes that David's wife was Paralee ALLRED.

David married Parilee Allred. Parilee was born about 1828 in Louisiana; died on 16 Jan 1887 in Louisiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  4. 7.  Parilee Allred was born about 1828 in Louisiana; died on 16 Jan 1887 in Louisiana.

David and Parilee had 6 children and are listed throughout the Parish census until the time of their deaths. Other children include Michael, William Rufus, Hellen, Lucinda A., and David A. (Casagranda, 1850 Census, 35).

    Children:

  1. 10.  Claiborne Parrish Waldrop was born on 11 Jan 1792 in Newberry County, South Carolina; died on 22 May 1872 in Pleasant Hill, Sabine Parish, Louisiana.

    Notes:

Kathy Casagrande writes that Claiborne Waldroup was born Claiborne Parrish Waldrop 1-11-1792 in South Carolina. Claiborne is the son of Hezekiah Waldrop born circa 1772 and Martha Davenport. Hezekiah Waldrop was the child of John Waldrop b. circa 1732 in Hanover Co., VA and Tabitha Parrish. This family can be traced further back to Michael Waldrop b. circa 1680 in VA. The father of Claiborne Waldroup died in MS after 1850 in possibly Holmes County. Paula Jones, a family researcher, states that Claiborne Parrish Waldrop always spelled his name as WALDROP.

No listings for Waldrop or any spelling variation in the Sabine Parish cemetery records.

The History of Sabine Parish, Louisiana (author John Belisle, The Sabine Banner Press, 1912) states that "in 1860 the white population of Sabine Parish numbers about four thousant, and there were less than two thousand slaves. There were few really wealthy people in the parish, and many owned not more than one of two slaves. the owners of six or more in 1861 included C. P. Waldrup.
