W. J. Clark Jr.

William Joseph "W. J." Clark Jr., 78, of Jasper died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his residence.

Clark, a native of Sabine County, had lived in Jasper the past nine years. He was a retired polic officer of the City of Port Neches.

Survivors: wife, Ollie McClelland Clark of Jasper; daughters, Barbara Midkiff of Sour Lake and Gayle Evans of Houston; brothers, George Clark of Bridge City and Paul Clark and [nephew?] A. B. Clark, both of Sabine County; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 8 at the chapel of R. S. Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Interment followed at Cunningham Cemetery in Silsbee.

William married Ollie McClelland on 2 Dec 1940 in Sabine County, Texas. Ollie (daughter of Samuel D. "Mack" McClelland and Clara S. Jacks) was born on 11 Jan 1925 in Texas; died on 6 Nov 2003 in Silsbee, Hardin County, Texas; was buried in Cunningham Cemetery, Silsbee, Hardin County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

At the time of the 1930 census, 5 year old Ollie McClelland, along with her 2 year old brother Mack McClelland, were living with her widowed grandfather, Jesse Jacks, in Precinct 1 of Sabine County.

Notes:

Shown as Clara S. Wright, widowed, at the time of the 1930 Census. She was living with her father and sister in Sabine County, along with 5 year old Ollie McClelland and Mack McClelland. Her headstone, in the Lott Cemetery, shows her instead as Clara McClelland, Apparently she was widowed/divorced from a McClelland before she married, and was later widowed from, a Wright. Her headstone is inscribed "Clara McClelland, 1898-1945, Gone but not Forgotten." Sharon Whitaker shows that her first husband was Samuel D. "Mack" McClelland.
